Learn French with Pippa Bunkall
Tailored French classes - learning in a focused but fun environment

About Me
Passionate about French
I am passionate about French and my main aim is to try and pass on that enthusiasm to both children and adults alike. I was fortunate to get a head start, living in Brussels for 5 years as a child and my degree also included a year living in Bordeaux. I am a qualified secondary school French teacher.

I know a lot of people find learning a language difficult. As an adult, it might be something you've always fancied doing but haven't plucked up the courage or feel you've left it too late. Perhaps you did French GCSE several years ago and feel rusty, but would like to resurrect it either for work or pleasure.

I focus on providing fun, innovative tuition to all age groups, tailor-making lessons or classes to the individual's needs, whether that may be working on holiday French for an adult or preparing for a speaking exam as a GCSE student.

Whilst being carefully focused, my priority is that you can enjoy speaking French in a relaxed and calming environment around my kitchen table or in the garden using a whole variety of activities.

I have two teenage children, both at secondary school locally, one of whom completed his GCSEs last year, so I am personally very much in tune with the stresses students may be experiencing when faced with exams.

Adult French Classes
Focused, interactive and fun classes for all levels
These classes can be at any level and can be focused on individual needs and requirements e.g. holiday French, getting by when skiing or perhaps you're contemplating buying a property in France.  We tend to concentrate on listening, speaking and reading and use a whole variety of resources including text books, games, interactive resources such as YouTube clips, songs and French film.  We have even been known to simultaneously cook salade de chèvre chaud on Zoom during the pandemic, as well as crepe making, and cheese and wine tasting.
GCSE French Tuition
Targeted tuition to build confidence and improve grades
I prefer to teach in groups of 2-3 for GCSE either face-to-face or on Zoom as I believe it is more interactive and enjoyable for the students.  The lessons are focused on the areas the student feels they most need help. This could be targeted French speaking practice for the oral exam, grammar, listening or translation.  Often students are unsure how to revise for French or are lacking in confidence.  I can provide specifically targeted tuition to help build confidence and improve their grade.

French After School Club
Fun introduction to French for Year 3 to Year 6 Primary School
I have run an after school French Club for 4 years at St John the Baptist CE School, Hampton Wick.  Learning to speak French at a young age in a fun environment is a great head start to secondary school when the curriculum is fast paced and can be daunting.  French After School Club can not only spark an enthusiasm for learning a foreign language, but many of my parents have said it has provided their child with a strong foundation to build on when moving into Year 7, as well as providing some all-important confidence.
